Excellence in Mentorship Award


In partnership with Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies, the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Scholarship Committee is excited to offer five awards to recognize outstanding mentorship. These individuals demonstrate mentoring in clinical, research, translational, equity advancement, and professional development of radiation oncology professionals. The committee is acutely aware of the impact that exceptional mentors have in a trainee’s career and life and would like to highlight outstanding individuals in our field.

Scholarship Details

  • Nominations of outstanding mentors will be from a colleague or mentee, detailing their impact and dedication to exceptional mentoring.
  • Award recipients will receive a cash award, certificate, and recognition at the awards ceremony at The Radiation Oncology Summit: ACRO 2026, taking place February 4-7 at Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, Florida.
  • Recipients will be notified by early December to allow ample time for travel arrangements.

Eligibility

  • Nominees should be a radiation oncologist, physicist, or radiation biologist.
  • Nominees should be directly involved with clinical, research, equity advancement or career development mentoring of trainees.
  • Nominees are strongly encouraged to be members of ACRO.
  • Nominees are strongly encouraged to participate in the ACRO mentorship program.
  • Nominees should make every attempt to attend the ACRO 2026 Annual Meeting.
  • All submissions must include the application form, nominee’s curriculum vitae, and a letter of support from the nominating mentee (1 page maximum).

Description of documentation requirements below:

  • Letter of Support from the Nominating Mentee - Please describe the unique characteristics that this mentor exhibits with mentees. Specifically, please describe any sustained efforts, projects or programs that this individual has established or contributed to for mentorship. If more than one mentee is supporting this candidate, you may submit an individual or joint letter of support. Limit to 1 page.
