The American College of Radiation Oncology is the essential, professional society for success in the day-to-day practice of radiation oncology. Since 1990, ACRO has focused its attention on both the clinical and economic aspects of practicing radiation oncology. As a professional medical society representing a small subspecialty, ACRO provides services to help its members become better clinicians and leads in the effort to ensure appropriate reimbursement for clinical care. We strive to ensure the highest quality care for radiation therapy patients and promote success in the practice of radiation oncology through education, responsible socioeconomic advocacy, and integration of science and technology into clinical practice.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION & SAMS

ACRO has a number of options for members to access CME credits through our conferences and virtual events. The trademark of ACRO is the ability to secure all the SAMS you need for maintenance of certification during our Annual Conference. Members receive discounted meeting registration and no additional fee for processing your SAMS credits


WEBINARS

ACRO physician volunteers, through several key committees, manage our diverse and engaging virtual content through our webinar programming. A wide variety of educational experiences are available for our members whether your interests are clinical, legal, advocacy, or practice management. ACRO webinars are free for members and available for 24/7 access through our webinar archive.

 

PODCASTS

ACRO is developing a robust library of podcast content that is uniquely crafted for the busy medical professional. Delivering timely content in a manner that can be digested in small increments of time whether you are in the car, at your desk, or listening along on the treadmill. Our podcast content covers a wide range of topics from reimbursement tips to advocacy alerts and other content to help our members succeed personally and professionally.

  

Advocacy

LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY & REGULATORY UPDATES

The ACRO staff works closely with physicians, our lobbying team, cancer care advocates, and lawmakers from around the country to promote legislation which benefits our members and their patients. ACRO was founded with a mission to enhance the representation of Radiation Oncologists in Washington DC. We share updates through our weekly ACRO E-newsletter, monthly advocacy updates, podcasts, and via social media. Our ACRO PAC also works year-round on your behalf!

 

ACRO POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (PAC)

The ACRO Political Action Committee (PAC) is a bi-partisan political action committee led by volunteer physician leadership dedicated to representing the interests of our members and their patients. One of the founding principles of ACRO was the desire to elevate the voice of radiation oncologists in the public policy arena. The goal of the PAC is to unify cancer care advocates to maximize our voice in Washington, DC by supporting pro-medicine candidates for public office.

Networking

ACRO ANNUAL MEETING

ACRO hosts its Annual Conference each Spring, which is designed to help you network, mentor, and learn. This event provides radiation oncologists with access to up-to-date information on the profession, access to business partners, and a chance to network with colleagues. CMEs, SAMs and CEs are available at the Conference, and members get discounted ticket prices.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT REFERENCE TOOLS (ACRO INSIGHTS)

Led by the physician volunteers of the Govenerment Relations & Economics Committee (GREC), ACRO publishes timely practice management tools and manuals to assist radiation oncologists with the complexities of the modern day practice of medicine. ACRO Insights has become a valuable resource for members given its timely and actionable content.

 

CODING & REIMBURSEMENT REFERENCE MATERIALS

Through our relationship with Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies, ACRO Members receive access to discounted coding and reimbursement manuals including the popular Navigator manual. Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies also presents our annual coding and reimbursement up date on the opening day of the ACRO Annual Meeting.

Every Thursday, ACRO members receive RadOnc Weekly, an E-newsletter with the latest legislative updates, member news, event information, practice management tools, and more. Professional Enrichment

FELLOWSHIP DESIGNATION

Following 10 years of continuous membership, Active and Associate Members are eligible to be considered for Fellowship in ACRO, and to use the designation “FACRO.” A letter is sent to eligible Members each Fall with application information. Fellowship, if approved, is conferred at the following Annual Meeting. FACRO Designation is reserved for those members that have exhibited dedicated service to the organization over they years.

 

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

The ACRO Mentorship Program is managed by the Resident Committee and has become a signature program for introducing the next generation of clinicians to our physician leaders. Whether you are looking to expand your circle of influence, cultivate a network of peers, or simply looking to share your experiences with the next generation, the mentorship program provides a venue to make some lifelong connections.
