ACRO has many committees and task forces to better serve its membership and the medical community. We encourage ACRO members to get involved with the organization through committee service. Please note: Regardless of the time your application is submitted, all committee appointments take place at the ACRO Annual Meeting by appointment of the Board of Chancellors. Science & Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for identifying gaps in education for members of the College and coordinating strategies for the delivery of timely and engaging educational content through various communication platforms managed by ACRO. The educational priorities of the College as identified by the Committee will be communicated to those Committees that have additional jurisdiction in content creation and delivery.

Scientific Program Subcommittee

The purpose of the Scientific Program Committee is to select the CME-eligible sessions at the annual Radiation Oncology Summit, ACRO’s annual meeting. The committee also decides on the meeting’s theme, selects the abstract presentations at the meeting, and recommends a speaker/honoree for the annual Luther Brady Lecture.

Ethics

The Ethics Committee is responsible for evaluating disclosures of relevant commercial relationships of key College leaders, faculty, and volunteers to determine if conflicts of interest (COI) exist and require resolution. The Committee is also charged with reviewing other ethical and professional issues as necessary. Members of the College are encouraged to utilize the Ethics Committee for professional and organizational questions they may have related to ethical considerations.

Finance & Development

The Finance & Development Committee (FDC) shall assist the Executive Director and The Board of Chancellors to coordinate activities, operations, and performance of the College as well as the development of partnerships and programs that will elevate the strategic position of the College. The FOC will also assist other ACRO committees with development of budgets so that the appropriate finances and resources are made available to promote strategic growth. During the Annual Meeting, the FOC will be responsible for coordinating the overall schedule as well as all non-CME/Abstract/SAM activities. The FOC will work to investigate strategic initiatives that enhance the standing of The College as well as meeting the needs of ACRO members.

Government Relations & Economics Committee (GREC)

The GREC tracks Medicare, Medicaid, and Insurance initiatives that affect reimbursement, lobbies for position in legislative process, monitors changes in CPT codes, monitors state carrier policies, and establishes compliance programs to avoid fraud and abuse.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee facilitates and ensures the continued enrollment of new and current members of ACRO, provides innovative ways to expedite the membership and meeting process, provides active advice and effort in ongoing recruitment programs, develops and reviews continuing ACRO programs designed to enhance the professional benefits of ACRO to its members, oversees ACRO web operations, reviews and develops membership criteria for the different ACRO membership categories as appropriate, and coordinates with other ACRO standing committees in areas of multiple committee participation.

Standards Committee

The Standards Committee assists ACRO members in preparation to meet local, state and national practice and regulatory standards as applicable to the specialty of radiation oncology. The Standards Committee reviews and responds to policies originating from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, provides Cancer-Care Guidelines.

The Chair of the Standards Committee is selected annually and serves at the discretion of the President. The Chair oversees the ACRO Accreditation Program.

The Director of the Practice Accreditation program reports directly to the Chair of the Standards Committee. The Director of the Practice Accreditation program is reappointed annually and serves at the discretion of the Executive Committee and the Chair of the Standards Committee.

The Communications Committee holds a vital purpose: to forge and execute a robust communications strategy that fortifies the organization's internal and external connectivity. This strategy aims to elevate communication endeavors, champion initiatives, and ensure a unified message across all channels.

Resident Committee

The ACRO Resident Committee aims to provide access to international rotations and funding support through the Global Radiation Oncology Workforce (GROW) scholarship, as well as a partnership with Radiating Hope. The Committee also creates awareness of available educational resources, reviews course opportunities, and provides informational webinars from leaders in the field regarding issues pertinent to residents.

Career mentorship and assistance with the job search is also an important charge of the Committee. Residents are partnered with practicing radiation oncologists in academic and private practice at national meetings.

A resident-specific symposium takes place at the ACRO Annual Meeting which serves as a more intimate meeting specific to radiation oncology.

The Committee aims to provide a welcoming environment to encourage residents to share ideas and engage in activities outside their own institution, even on a national level.
