We are looking for residents and medical students interested in furthering the committee's commitment to enhancing education, scholarship, advocacy, and mentorship among radiation oncology trainees. Multiple executive board and leadership positions are opening up this year, listed below!
Resident Committee Structure and Positions
The resident committee includes the following subcommittees, each of which is chaired by an executive board member (bold=chair position available):
Scientific Program:Planning and execution of the annual ACRO Summit sessions for residents and students.
Education/Wellness:Develop and execute on the committee’s ongoing initiatives of educational resources for residents.
Scholarship: Facilitate applications and awarding of ACRO’s many scholarships.
Mentorship: Coordinate ACRO’s mentorship program and conduct professional development sessions for residents and students.
Communications: Manage social media presence and assist across committees to broadcast ACRO opportunities to residents and students.
In addition, the committee is launching the following new leadership positions, all of which are open for 2026-2028 terms:
Advocacy Lead: Conduct events focused on educating residents on the advocacy ecosystem in radiation oncology.
Curie Lead: Liaise with the Curie Journalteam to connect residents with opportunities for involvement and research.
ARO Lead: Liaise with the Journal, Applied Radiation Oncology, to facilitate quarterly article contributions for ACRO members.
Notes:
All committee positions serve for a two-year term. Executive board member cannot simultaneously serve on the executive committee of other radiation oncology resident organizations. When you apply below, you'll be able to indicate your interests in leadership positions and subcommittees of interest.
Aside from leadership positions, resident members are each assigned to one subcommittee, however collaboration across committees is common. The Committee will do its best to honor your preferences for assignment!
Apply Now! The deadline to apply is June 5, 2026. Following that deadline, applications will be reviewed by the Committee and selected residents will be invited for a brief interview.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be current residents in an accredited radiation oncology training program within the United States or Canada. Applicants must be willing to participate for a 2-year commitment. They must not already serve on the executive committee of other radiation oncology resident organizations.
Application requirements:
Please submit a CV and a personal statement describing what you hope to accomplish during your time on the ACRO Resident Committee (limit 1 page).
Additionally, please attach a letter of support from your program leadership that verifies you will be able to attend the 2026 ACRO Annual Meeting.
