The ACRO Resident Committee is acutely aware of the benefit that monetary support can provide for members. Given the increased difficulty in obtaining funding, the Resident Committee provides a variety of grants and scholarships for resident members.

ACRO Seed Grants: Empowering Resident Innovation

The ACRO Seed Grant program is a foundational funding initiative designed to bridge the gap between a great idea and a completed project. By providing early-stage financial support, ACRO aims to empower resident physicians to take ownership of their research, foster mentorship relationships, and contribute meaningful data to the field of radiation oncology.

Grant Details

ACRO will provide four $1,000 grants for research projects in radiation oncology.

  • Funding Structure: Of the $1,000 awarded, $500 is issued to fund the research project. The remaining $500 is awarded three months later as a second installment or can be used for travel to the ACRO Annual Meeting (The Radiation Oncology Summit) in 2027.
  • Timeline: Recipients are notified 1–2 months after submission. The first installment is issued within two weeks of notification.
  • Reporting Requirements: *Interim Report: Due by January 12, 2027, or via an abstract submission to the ACRO Annual Meeting.
         - Final Report: Due in early May 2027.
Note: Final acceptance and disbursement of funds is subject to review by the ACRO Scholarship Committee and Board of Chancellors.


Eligibility & Application Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be ACRO members in good standing at a U.S. residency program and identify a primary mentor for their project.

Submissions will be assessed, and grants will be awarded by members of the ACRO Resident Committee with input from the Board of Chancellors as needed.

Required Documentation:

  • Project Proposal - A detailed research plan (max 5 pages) including background, hypothesis, design, and methods. Limit references to 25.
  • Letter of Support - From your Project Mentor, outlining their commitment and oversight.
  • Project Expenses: A detailed list of anticipated costs using this form.
  • Program Director Acknowledgement: Please have your Program Director fill out this form.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Your current professional history.
