#TourdeACRO: The Power of Pedaling for Physician Well-being as a Collaborative Effort in Social Media-based Cycling

ACRO hosted the inaugural #TourdeACRO. This was an attempt to promote well-being among ACRO members. Almost 20 racers competed between January 1, 2022 and February 28, 2022. Riders competed by using a Peloton cycle. The primary endpoint was miles completed, which were posted on social media. This caused a team to build relationships in ways that were unanticipated, encouraging each other to race further.

The competition was fierce. Joshua Corteville, M.D., PGY-4 Resident at Medical College of Wisconsin led for a good part of the race. With 2 days left, Annie LaVigne, M.D., PGY-4 Resident at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, took the lead from Josh. Over the last two days, Josh rode almost 70 miles to pull in front of Annie and be the overall winner. Josh’s total was 834 miles. Annie’s total was 787 miles as she was won the Women’s Division and second overall. Jenna Kahn, M.D., Assistant Professor of Radiation Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, was in third place overall at 339 mi. The total for the top three finishers was a combined 1,960 miles.
